Back in the day, corporal punishment that would now be (and, frankly, was then) simply abuse was common. If I'd bothered to say anything to my parents, they'd have opined that the punish-ee no doubt deserved it.I can look back now and laugh, but it's not much of a stretch to see how all the perv-priests got away with their abuse for years and years.
