Lenco L-70 45rpm not working?.

I havn't had time to investigate yet,but I went to play a 45 last night and the platter just slows down and stops.So the idler wheel is not making contact with the platter!
I replaced the idler spring with a rubber band some time ago but it was working fine.As soon as I go to 33 again all is well.
What to check?
