Re: Hum in left turntable channel (please help)

Check the interconnects and any power cords next to them, make sure they are out of reach from each other, especially the phono cables coming from the turntable. Make sure the phono cables are not located next to the turntable power supply or turntable ac connector. I changed out the phono cables last, replacing the Van Den Hul MC D501 pure silver phono cable and when I turned it on, noticed hum immediatley. I started by isolating all the cables, ac and interconnect from the turntable to the phono pre (Aesthetix IO) and the hum went away. It was the phono cable too close to the ac cords of the power supplies.

As a rule of thumb, most of the time the cables are the culprits, either the IC's or ac cables are too close to each other or the power supplies of equipment. Also, you can start by isolating the source, swap cables around to see if the hum swaps with the cables ot stays the same, shut down other source equipmenent nearby and remove the ac cord out of the source and away and check for hum, it is tedious but eventually you will find it.
