You as a bidder can't hide your identity. It is the seller who sets up his auction to hide the ID of his bidders. He alone knows who they are."Did I get a better price because people were afraid of the private bidders?"
I believe so.I did go into another auction that was more or less kidnapped by private bidders. that one felt fishy though. the price went through the roof way beyond a reasonable market value. I ran away that time.
good callTo me the hidden bidder deal is a red flag. It indicates to me shill bidding will be in play on that auction. There are other reasons for hiding the bidders ID ,but I'm not buying them.
