If we turn this over to someone with real software skills, we can make the control regime as sophisticated as needed (but not more, to misquote Albert)A scheme might be something similar to a typical panel meter with say a two line LCD screen and four soft push buttons: on/off set up down.
LCD indicates speed setting (33, 45 and 78) on first line and supply frequency (eg 60.000001 Hz) on second line
Unit switches on in run mode and up/down buttons change speed setting in endless loop (eg pressing up from 78 gets you to 33.
Press and hold "set" for three seconds enables setup mode. Frequency change steps are selected by pressing set button, jumping a decade each press, with the cursor under the decade which is changing eg 60.00_001 Hz. This is also endless loop eg the cursor returns to the end when pressed past the beginning. Changes to frequency are made by up / down buttons.
Press and hold on/off button for three seconds returns to run mode.
Press on/off in run mode stops unit.
So the question is - are there other desireable features that I have missed? Is a touch screen a good idea or would it be seen as an unnecessary doo-dad?
