Money where your mouth is!

Hey, Did anyone read the December 2006 review on the TNT site comparing a KAB SL1200 Direct Drive to a Music Hall Belt Drive at more than double the price.

The reviewer made a great case for the Technics (and cited possible reasons why people may pooh pooh it .... it only costs around $500 - how can it be anygood) He then went on to talk a little about economies of scale and what such a TT might cost today if it had to be done all over again.

Anyway, in a nutshell the reviewer is clearly in favour of the SL1200 over the "double the price" belt drive ....... and he puts his money where his mouth is and buys the review KAB Technics.

It really is difficult for us audiophools to accept that a "common garden variety TT" which sells millions of units per year at a ridiculously low price to ..... ye Gods, DJ's, may actually be a pretty damned good turntable. Not only that, but it gets close to, or betters, our outrageously expensive specialst units which sell only a thousand or so Units per year. But, note these manufacturers spend a gazillion dollars per year in advertising "in all the right magazines" and "permanent loaners" to the reviewers. Hmmmmn, ya gotta wonder ..... payolla lives!!!
