The HFN Test Record track for setting azimuth uses a totally different method. You are supposed to sum the L and R track by switching to mono which means they should cancel each other out and then adjust azimuth for minimum sound level. The trouble with this method is that you are using azimuth to compensate for any other channel imbalances in your system and it is therefore not as reliable a method as using a multimeter with a 1 Khz test tone for L and R channels separately such as is found on the Cardas test record.
