When I had an arm rewire... I had an Incognito loom put in to my SME. It sounded pretty good from the off but definately improved with use. It started by being a bit sharp on some sibilant sounds but has fleshed right out now.
As to whether this is 'break in' or whatever else... even the cables settling into place inside the arm or insulation... I have no idea. It just sounded and felt better after some time. I didn't fiddle with anything else on the set up during this period either.
So still not sure of a reason, but the end result was great.Enjoy,
