I saw Renaissance at the Electric Ballroom around that time, when I was at Auburn U. Possibly we were at the same show. I'm guessing '75 or '76. As I recall, the opening act was The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, which was just about the worst possible choice to pair with Renaissance.
I had heard their earlier records from the pre-Annie days, when they were best known as a Yardbirds offshoot. But Prologue was the one that really captured me. I was running a Dual 1219 with a Shure M95 cart in those days. I had no idea about cartridge alignment, although I did have a stylus force gauge. When she hit those high notes in Sounds of the Sea, on the innermost grooves, at high volume, it mistracked so badly it sounded like bacon frying. Still beautiful, despite the distortion.
