I agree that smoking makes the voice deeper, and it also eliminates

the higher frequencies. Smoke voices also get raspy and sometimes distorted. Her singing on a Chieftains CD was not just low. She sounded to me like she was on her death bed. It was a real turnoff to me. Some singers with low raspy voices sound great and soulful. Hers was distracting. My opinion only, of course.
