I didn't realize SOTA was a pain to deal with

When I bought my first really good turntable, back in 1984, the choice was between a SOTA and the VPI HW19. A good price on VPI demo with a Rega arm sealed the deal. Over 30 years, I upgraded/replaced every part of that table except the wooden base and power switch. VPI never asked me to send it back once. I did have to send in a platter to have them replace the bearing, but the charge was very reasonable.

So when it was time to upgrade, I bought another VPI-a Prime. I like a simple design, and it doesn't get much simpler than an outboard motor, a belt, a platter and a bearing. I did have a problem with the printed arm drooping after the warranty expired. They sent me a new one, a $2000 part, without any hassle. No regrets I didn't buy that SOTA.
