His local dealer advertised a demo unit of a $3600 Project Xtention 9. for $2600. Then there was no demo available, so they sold him a new in the box unit for the same price.
He also decided the phono section on his old preamp was not that great, so he ended up going moving coil...AT-OC9 XSL and a Pro-ject Phono Box DS3 B for $750.
I owned a couple of the first generation OC9s. I think he did ok.
