Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

Dawn and Triton X-100 are both surfactants, but Triton X-100 is more

difficult to rinse off surfaces. I also use Triton X-100 in my home brew record cleaning fluid, and I have noticed that it really is harder to rinse it off the record.

From internet reading, Triton X-100 is effective on a wider range of contaminants. However, old Victor documents only recommend dry cleaning of shellac 78s. On the other hand, I have seen videos of Joe Bussard scrubbing hard with soap and water in a large tub. Some 78 labels will not tolerate this soap and water treatment unless the label is protected. However, , shellac is not soluble in water.
