The instructions seem to indicate that the arm will work with a range of cartridges and not just with a heavy SPU in the 32-35 gram range.
If that's true, then the effective mass of the arm will be less with a lighter head shell/cartridge.

1. With cartridge mounted in the head shell, install the head shell/cartridge combo into the arm
2. Adjust the counterweight, the black part only for zero balance having the arm float parallel to the platter surface.
3. Hold the Knurled ring at the end of the tonearm so it won't move and set the counterweight to zero.
4. Adjust the counter weight, black part only, for the desired tracking force.
