The feet should be long enough for stability. My panels have absorption areas of 1130 mm by 860 mm (a little under 4' X 3') and are 4" thick. The feet protrude 6" to the front and back of the panel so the total foot length is 16". They're quite stable.I can't see why your 8" to the front and 4" to the back shouldn't also be stable.
