Re: would the outlet gurus please recommend an Oyaide outlet for this system?

"Kenster, do you know if IEC on PS Audio UO is soldered or screwed down by any chance? I open the case but it's hard to see. I'm not skilled in soldering, so i am reluctant to replace IEC."

The IEC is soldered on the 2 units I have but here is the problem, on older UO's, the Balun is just screwed down to the enclosure and everything is hard wired. On newer UO's, PS Audio employed a PCB to mount all the components on and the IEC needs to be a right angle PCB mount.

A new IEC could be utilized if a suitable right angle PCB mount could not be procured but it would just mean extra wiring/soldering.

"Also, how much difference between the SWO-GX and SWO-XXX? My system has all Furutech plugs down stream , even wall outlet. The sound is kind of too warm for me. And i want it a bit more brighter."

There is quite a bit of difference between the 2 and a great deal of that difference can be attributed to the mating male AC plug. One needs to examine their system and determine which direction, with regards to sonics, they want to go and look at the Oyaide options.

Personally, I would start with a cryo'd SWO-XXX at the wall and work downstream from there.

"I'd to try WPC-Z but it's way over my budget..:) so i want to do some tweaks for the stainless steel plate ($5 from homedepot)...The search continues."

Use child safety caps in all your unused receptacle ports for starters.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

~kenster
