Teflon is not suitable for general power cord insulation because it will flow under pressure at room temperature. If the cord is pinched, it may develop a short at the pinch site. Making the Teflon thick enough to be robust makes the cord very stiff.
Of course, we audiophiles do not subject our precious cords to the kind of abuse that vacuum cleaner and floor lamp cords receive, so the actual danger is slight.
