RE: Black Hole vs. earlier mats

Hi Awe-de-o-file. The Black Hole is about .002" thicker at the hub. The grungebuster2.2 thickness probably wasn't the problem, though. That particular mat had a tendency of the top layer shrinking slightly from the internal heat of some CD players, causing the edges of the mat to curl up and thereby not stay put as well as it should.

This problem was remedied quite soon by the 2.2's successor, the grungebuster2007, which, prior to The Black Hole, had been our most successful CD mat. The only problem with the 2007 is that, being made of five hand-laminated layers, it is very laborious (and thereby expensive) to make. No problem at all with end-user performance, though.

The Black Hole is the result of striving to combine the advantages of the grungebuster2007 CD mat (very effective, but expensive) with Herbie's CD Hubcap (inexpensive, but only marginally effective). Like the grungebuster mats, The Black Hole can be applied and re-applied over and over or, like the Hubcap, can be kept permanently on the CD.

Of several people who have compared The Black Hole with previous versions and told me of there experiences, nearly all have preferred The Black Hole for ease of use and sonic performance.

Thanks,

Steve
