Some meters are better than others for us. Good features to have are dc microamps (measuring cap. leakage), RMS, dB, capacitance, inductance, diode/semiconductor junction transition voltage (for matching and detecting dead ones) and transistor HFE (beta matching).
Why I recommended the Fluke 115 over the 116 and 117 for instance is that the 115 is intended for electronic test while the 116 and 117 are for electrical (electricians) and HVAC applications.
