Hi all,
I'm trying to upgrade the power supply in a AI Modulus 2C preamp, to sustain a different operating point I'm trying to set for the linestage (lower plate voltage and higher current through tube). The power supply is provided with a stabilizer based on IRF712 MOSFET, obsolete. I'm going to try increasing the current provided to the tubes from around 30mA to either 40 or 50mA, depending on what's possible, therefore choosing between two different OPs, both calculated and both desirable.
The plate voltage is 244.9V. Therefore the dissipated power would increase from around 7.5W to either 10 or 12.5W, roughly. I also purchased a new heatsink at around 3.4 C/W rated up to some 20W.
Mouser lists IRF710B as direct replacement for IRF712.
Questions:
- is IRF710B direct replacement for IRF712, including pins?
- do I need to adjust any part of circuitry in that PS to adjust to IRF710B? (I am aware I'm not providing any schematics or other details about the PS, but maybe an answer is still possible in given conditions)
My goal is to take advantage of the higher dissipated power rating of the IRF710B (36W) as opposed to the 20W IRF712 is rated for, without modifying the supply other other than the MOSFET and heatsink.
Thank you much, any input is highly appreciated.
Best regards,
Raco.
