Just bought a cheap 20" LCD Tv whoch runs quite hot at the top of the TV. Seemed that all the heat is not from LCD lighting, but the PS heat sink.
I like to reduce the heat, and hopefully save some energy as well. how could I reduce the voltage in the Switching PS between the high freq transformer, and the rectified DC that feed the very hot 3 pins regulator. I want to try
1. changing the full wave rectifier brige at the input to a sigle diode, half wave, and perhaps reduce the immediate smoothing capacitor, replacig it with lower capacitance but much higher quality lytics and PIO. ( this actually will not reduce the heat so much, but reduce the risk of PS breaking down as my local AC is 240V, not 220V or 110V)
2. reduce the winding of the high freq intermediate transformer, got to try it without spoiling it. After all, I just burn a TDA 2030A when I shorted the output to the -ve PS voltage.
