First, you have to determine what you really want to do, electronically. Magnetic fields have some influence, but often rather than shielding, I prefer channeling them elsewhere. Any magnetically permeable material can actually pick up the lines of force and spread them out over a larger area which may worsen the situation. I realized this when experimenting with Mu metal, which is relatively costly.
Case in point:
If you use a metal frame rack and are not using it to hold the TT (important as the following tweak ruins a TT sound), place small refrigerator magnets (you can cut them up) on the crossbars of the rack, between each vertical section and between each horizontal section. I believe this will keep the magnetic induction generated by the power transformers from inducing a current throughout the metal parts by restricting the range of the magnetic field. The effect is quite noticeable, adding more dynamics to the system. It is also easily reversed by simply removing the magnets.
Now RF shielding is something else and I believe Al is the Man for that one.
