I like Purple Heart, Cocobolo, Bloodwood, etc...they all add a nice lower mid enhancement and extended top end.

Specific application??? No...I think Purple Heart offers the best overall frequency balance for this type of application. Excellent choice for Furutech, Wattgate, Hubbells...they all sound good with Purple Heart.
Carbon fiber??? Honestly...carbon fiber is used to lower ringing harmonic by boosting inductance at the outlet. If you eliminate the odd harmonic by using wood, then you will have no need for the carbon fiber :) If you need RF filtering, then look at the choke, one of my filters, or whatever else is on the market that handles RFI suppression.
