Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I wasn't certain if I should post here or in speakers but I'm hoping someone might help me. I have an Avantgarde Solo (powered speaker) that is set for 240v (I'm in Singapore but moving back to the USA later this year). My local dealer showed me how to switch it to 120v use (open up the back and switch a plug from one set of posts to another). The Solo has a fuse that is 250v 3.15A (ceramic although a glass version of it will fit as well but it is a bit snug). When I run this using a step-down transformer for 120v operation I seem to blow fuses (both ceramic and glass ones). If I put it back to 240v and use the same fuse, I don't have this problem with blowing the fuse.Should I be using a fuse with a higher amp rating with the lower voltage setting?? If yes, what would someone recommend?
thanks!!
