Not suited if your system is already dark sounding....that is wholly dependent on the connectors, and changes with aftermarket treatment as well. The 046's and new 004's belie that "dark sounding" description. And having made up many P-4030's with the 079's, I've never experienced what you sonically described, nor have I had any reports to that effect either. My 3 cents, with more than 2 years experience with these cables. But I could see a possibility (of what you report) if one had overly-ripe sounding tube gear and/or speakers.
