You could always combine the 2 options in a Cap=Choke=Cap kind of configuration.One suggestion if you're going to use a non-X rated cap across a line, put a fuse (1A should be plenty) in series with the cap lead-out. That way if it blows you haven't shorted out the circuit (and voided your home insurance), you've just blown the fuse.
