Isolating Seismic Vibrations When Air-Bladder, Spring devices or Roller types can't be used

Hi-

I live in NYC. Our apartment building is adjacent to the approach to the Brooklyn bridge, so there is constant auto traffic. A subway line also runs under our building.

I suspect there are a fair bit of low level vibrations.

I have Ayre integrated, Ayre CDP and Ayre phono stage on a Solidsteel 6.4 rack. Each shelf is 1.2" thick MDF. The shelves are on cones that fit into the frame. Each shelf also has upwardly pointing spikes under it. The uprights are filled with sand.

Because of limited vision and coordination, I can't handle air-bladder type of things or roller block type of things, springs etc. I am more or less limited to platforms or bases.

I looked at platforms from HRS and SRA, but they are very costly and I would need about 4-5, making the cost even higher.

My TT (Rega P9) is on a wall mounted shelf.

Currently, I am using the Ayre wood blocks, but in some ways thay may be making things worse by coupling the components. I could wind up spending more than the equipment, which does not seem to make sense.

How much of an effect do these seismic type of vibrations really have and is it worth tacking? Should I eliminate the wood blocks?

Thanks,

Jay
