You can also simply wrap teflon plumbers tape tightly around your tubes until you get the desired thickness. While these hardware store tweaks do some of the same vibrational damping in essence, and they use some of the same materials (the teflon part), they do not use the Herbie's elastomers. That means that these quickie fixes will work (they do in mine), but not necessarily that they work as well as Herbie's.
Herbie's stuff is good and not terribly expensive when you get right down to it. So sending it back if satisfied may not be the greatest idea...
I love the hardware store "chase" for solutions, especially when they work well. I'm also wallet challenged...ahem. So that's my first mode when trying to prove the concept of some tweak. Yet I've also been cautioned that I may be getting only 60-80% of the benefits of some of the better commmercial tweaks. When the price differential is great enough, that's fine with me. Yet I have to confess that sometimes I've found the commercial upgrades/tweaks are very well worth the extra bucks for the extra performance.
So I'm not as quick these days to imply that somebody got taken and should take it back to the seller.
