Many so called high-end cd players/dacs use electrolytic caps in the output stage.I believe that this is done to improve weight/dynamics and general specifications of the unit in a small space. But causes high frequency transients to be overly etched and subilant.
If a tube player has for example a 47UF electrolytic cap on the output. What would be the strategy to replace it. How small a film cap could you use without loosing performance? Some modification houses simply replace the standard grade electrolytic with a higher grade Black Gate cap and bypass that with a small film cap.
