I just received a Dayton plate amp from Parts Express. I hooked up the woofer two days ago and turned on the amp for the first time (with line level inputs) and the damn amp almost blew the woofer cone right out of its frame! The power indicator lamp on the amp never lit, but the thing must have been putting out plenty of DC. There was a really loud pop when I switched it off almost immediately, and the woofer cone retracted about a half-inch. Parts Express was very helpful and quick to send a replacement (haven't gotten it yet), but I am beginning to wonder if their equipment, or at least, the Dayton product, is of decent quality. I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours building a subwoofer with an unreliable amplifier.Peace,
Tom E
