eliminating the various RCA connectors. I seriously doubt you can actually "hear" those contacts although less is better no doubt. There is no noise advantage.On the other hand it is semi-permanent as you say.
Why not use captive leads from the "box" to preamp and shorten the cable from TT to allow location next to TT.
