Having built several gainclones with premium components i would say satisfaction is entirely speaker dependent. If your speakers are easy loads and sensitive the GC type amp can be extremely rewarding. I've really enjoyed GC on Lowthers (as much as i can enjoy anything on Lowthers :)) On my SF Signum or ProAcs the GCs, even with high capacitance PS sounds wimpy, no bass, no authority. Even an ST70 is having an easier time driving these than a GC.
Depending on your preferences and speakers the Aleph may well be more convincing.
