I've found in my system Vibracones are a great tone control.Point down under the pre or DAC they really emphasize the midrange (I like them this way). Point-up they really emphasize the treble. There's way better detail and much more treble energy point-up than point down, and things like cymbal work become really, really interesting - but the rich midrange lushness of point down (great for vocals, cello, etc.) just isn't there.
