Thanks much for the prompt response. National has hit some really long balls in the past, I'll be sure to check them out along with BB & AD. The spec sheets are the place to start but the rubber meets the road with their sonics in-circuit. One of the oldest complaints in Audio is "Measures great, sounds terrible" I'll never forget when Adcom came out with a new amp in the late 80's/early 90's that everyone was giving raves. Julian Hearse wrote a 6 page review in his magazine (I think is was High Fidelity). I couldn't believe it, so I carefully re-read it. I was right the first time thru : he never said ONE WORD about it's sonics ?! "What the hell should I listen to it for ? I measured it !
