...I'll explain further. I have a step up transformer wound with two independent primaries having a turns ratio of 1:5 for a 14dB gain and 1:10 for a 20dB gain with regards to the secondary. My question are, since the two primaries are independent (not tapped from a single winding), what will happen to the gain with respect to the secondary if you combine both primary coils in parallel? In series?If you wired them in series, you'd get a 1:3.33 ratio for a gain of 10.44dB. In parallel, I'm not sure how that would work out given two different turns on each winding.
