I believe I ended up cutting the legs off from the bottom most chip in the tower using small toe nail clippers and then I removed the pins one by one (the toe nail clippers were also scrap afterwards). Good luck trying to remove the chips while also trying to save them. However, you might be able to salvage them if you rebuild the tower using my silver wire method, where you do not need the long legs on the chips.
