Yes, upgrading outlets definitely works but

You don't necessarily get better if you mismatch with your equipment and for your environment. So some go for the most expensive stuff, others for mid-price, some for honest value upgrades that weren't designed for audio. Some for cryo, some not. Etc. In the end it's not a simple cost=benefit equation at all, IMHO. YMMV.

Even an upgrade to a better non-audio grade outlet works very well, IME. I like the P&S 5262A in my system and didn't like the Hubbells, but everybody's taste and system is different; some prefer exactly the reverse. For about $4-8 apiece these types of outlets are a real bargain and a boon to your sonics.

Hospital grade outlets are hit and miss at $8-16, IMHO. Some are great - if they're all brass or copper without nickel or ferrous metals - but otherwise you could just be paying for something that is designed for chemical cleaning moreso than for anything that will matter to audio. Construction matters more than the fact that it's certified for hospital use! Some like isolated ground, but this can be a problem - read up before you embark on that route.

Cryoed stuff can be better, but you'll pay 3-4 times the price for the same outlets as above. Expect to start paying $13-35 for the same grades as above, but cryogenically treated.

The "audio grade" outlets get varying reviews, but always outdo the stock wall junk that comes with your house by a longshot. Expect to pay $40-200! Depends upon the brand and all the fixins.
