Chassis ground question; CD player

I'm probably gonna replace my Rotel cd player's stock AC cord. It's terminated in a two-prong plug. May I run three-wire AC cable into the player and connect the new cable's ground wire to the player's chassis? Or will this cause a ground or noise problem?
