I have been using soft recovery ultra fast diodes (e.g., Harris, Fairchild Stealth..etc.)in all my equipment. Of course, they are significantly better than stock diodes.I did not think things could be "improved" till I tried the CREE Shockty (sp ?)diodes from PCX. Wow, the CREE diodes are noticibly superior to the soft recovery ultra fast diodes. The sound is quicker, less grain, greater dynamics, more information and openess.... The difference was immediate and obvious.
I'm planning on changing all my equipment from soft recovery to the CREE diodes. If your going to spend the time/effort to mod your equipment, go with CREE. Its worth every penny and more.
