Y'all ought to get your facts straight. Cheney's hunting party were moving thru a field in what the military call a "skirmish line", which is a straight line from left to right. This is done so that nobody can get hit by anyone else's shot. Somehow, Cheney's attorney friend got out ahead of the skirmish line (and you wonder why they tell lawyer/attorney jokes) and had the sun in front of him, shining in his eyes and Cheney's, preventing Cheney from seeing him . When a covey of quail broke cover in front of the now irregular skirmish line and Cheney looked up, into the sun, as he fired at them since they were in his area of coverage, hitting the attorney who was out of position and virtually invisible. The fault lies with the attorney, not Cheney. Hunting with rifles and shotguns can be a very dangerous sport and those who go out to hunt without knowing the basic safety rules and following them rigorously are very prone to disaster. Perhaps the attorney should get this year's Darwin Award (awarded to that individual who eliminates himself or herself from the gene pool in the most novel way). He should at least get a nomination.
