Since your port is a horizontal slit, you could try what Fried used to do with their "Line Tunnel" tuning and that is get some expanded foam...much like what the RPG panels are made of, cut to length and width and press fit it into the slot. I would start with 1/2" depth of foam and go from there.This will still allow air through the port but the flow will be dampened. You can play around with the depth of the foam to get just the right amount of dampening.
