You have a good eye in your assessment of the tubes in the pictures!
When I looked at the picture later I thought the one on the left looked like it had longer plates, but then thought that it was just the picture. You are right-they are not a pair of the same type of tubes.

I think I kind of made a mistake as I need a pair of tubes for my preamp- not just one. I will talk to seller and it should be no problem to return if he has sent them already.
