I am new to tubes, just bought a PACO SA-40, and have been playing it with Pioneer CD#1, sounding great. I switched to Pioneer CD#2 and it pretty quickly blew the 3-amp fuse and I saw a wisp of smoke. I examined the components near where I saw the smoke and can see no damage, so I put in a 2-amp fuse, and tried playing CD#1. It plays for about a minute with higher left-chan volume, then one of the 7189 output tubes starts glowing brightly (plate). So I quickly shut it off.
I measured with a VOM the resistance across the L-chan (& R-chan):
CD#1 = 40,000 Ohms
CD#2 = 400 Ohms
Seems to be no problem with my SS system, but what have I done to my tube amp? Any help will be appreciated. I have a schematic, and can do some soldering, but not very circuit knowledgable.
