Without the code you are destined to wonder for all eternity. I think that this vintage was coded.
Do you have the ten kilowatt Kleeg light that can be can angled such that the remants of any inscription will show in the glancing glare? Do you have a 10X jewlers loupe from Bausch and Lomb. Both are requisite tube collecting essentials.
When you say pinched you don't mean pinched as in pinch waisted do you? Are these tubes really coneheads? I think not. Get out the digital camera and upload a high resolution closeup of the structure. Then people might know. I share your incredulity.
