I recently retubed my TAD-1000's with 2 matched quads of the 6CA7s biased to 350mv instead of the 6550s biased to 650mv. The differences I noticed right away are that the mid bass is substantially fuller and more harmonically rich than with the 6550s and the top end is definitely smoother and possibly more extended. The midrange is excellent with the new tubes. Generally I am quite pleased with 6CA7s. What are some other tubes in this family that are good?
