The 7189A is rated for higher stress. So, ELECTRICALLY, it is just fine in a 6BQ5 "hole". The area where problems can arise is how the socket is wired up. There are differences in pin out between the 7189A and the others. The differences may or may not be problematic in any given unit.Use TDSL to get info. about tube basing and electrical characteristics.
