Don't go cheap on the amp stand, especially if you are using a tube amp. A friend of mine had tried quite a number of stands before settling on a piece of 400lb slab for his BAT VK-75 amp. (It was a vibration control device in its previous life in a laser lab)A while back, when several of the guys were at his place, we moved the slab and place the amp on a Grand Prix Audio amp stand. Who would have thought the difference was quite drastic! We moved it back and forth several times just to make sure we were hearing it right. Now I'm a believer! Not that you should put this is a priority on your list. But it's worth thinking about it later on. At least put them on cones.
