EL34 and 6CA7 are meant to be equivalents. 6550 and KT88 are very close to being equivalents. However, there are a number of important differences between EL34/6CA7 and 6550/KT88. Whether they are interchangeable in a particular amp depends on the design; in some cases the substitution would be OK but there are designs where it wouldn't work at all well. As risabet says, if in doubt ask the manufacturer.
