It's a fact of life, without clean tubes you won't garner many bids. Here's a trick that I use that I didn't think was going to work, yet it did. First; Don't touch the glass! Anywhere you touch the glass you will lose print. Second, run warm water from a faucet at a constant, comfortable temperature at a rate which results in a stream about as thick as a pencil. Holding the tube by the pins only, run the tube under the flow of water, turning the tube to expose the whole surface of the glass. Allow the water to wipe the dust away. Third: DO NOT wipe the tube dry with a towel or a cloth. Place the wet tube in a plastic tray and let the air dry it for a couple of days.For those tubes which I cleaned the way I indicated, I was able to salvage the most printed material on the tubes and always had tubes I could photograph. That's the method which worked best for me but stay tuned, others probably have better methods. At least I hope so. Good luck with your tubey enterprise.
