It is certainly possible, in fact there's a '50s paper on a 3000W valve amp on my web page (though it's definitely not hi-fi).All it takes is money... valve watts cost a bit more than solid state ones. Four 6146, KT88 or 6550 output tubes can deliver 100-200 watts, depending on operating point and driver circuitry. Hammond has a 280 Watt output transformer in their catalog - with 6 6650s, 200-250 watts would be relatively straightforward. And relatively expensive...
